How Now Playing Finds Artwork

Now Playing 2 has many ways it tries to find album artwork. It varies between each DJ software. This post will help you understand the priority order.

Rekordbox
  • 1) Artwork from Rekordbox's database that is on that computer.
  • 2) Artwork from Beatport / Beatport Link
  • 3) Artwork from Discogs
  • 4) Your default artwork
  • 5) The Now Playing logo
Traktor DJ Pro
  • 1) Artwork embedded the media MP3/WAV/AIFF file
  • 2) Artwork from Beatport / Beatport Link
  • 3) Artwork from Discogs
  • 4) Your default artwork
  • 5) The Now Playing logo
Serato DJ Pro
  • 1) Artwork embedded the media MP3/WAV/AIFF file

Mixxx

ProDJ-Link

Currently ProDJ-Link does not pull album art directly from the media file.

It is technically possible to transfer artwork from the USB/SD card or from Rekordbox Link Export but during testing the file transfer was very slow (30+ seconds for an MP3, even longer for a WAV / AIFF).

So for now Now Playing 2 doesn't support read artwork directly from the USB stick in your CDJ. Instead if the Rekordbox database is on the same computer as Now Playing it will try to use that.
